I have been a dentist over 15 years, and I have seen a lot of changes in the profession during that time. One of the main changes I have seen is of course the improved technology, especially such things as x-rays which enabled me to see the patient’s condition much better than ever before. However one of the best things as far as I’m concerned has been the development of really excellent Dental Loupes, because by using one of these tiny little pieces of equipment I can see what I am doing much better than I ever did before. Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States government once stated quite famously “Those who would give up liberty so that they may achieve security deserve neither liberty nor security”. In any discussion of  surveillance  in a democracy, these words are quite relevant, even in these times. Quite a lot of people resent the ease by which privacy and freedoms are violated by surveillance equipment used by governments for improving security. The sad fact is, rights and liberty (including privacy), and total security cannot truly coexist in any democracy.

For computer monitors, and other applications that do not require extreme sizes for displays, LCD has started to become dominant. However, for really large displays such as in home theater systems,  plasma tv  remains kind of this domain. There is a very noticeable difference in clarity and uniformity of colors when using even an ordinary good quality plasma tv set exceeding 37 inches plus to the competition. While LCDs are catching up, the development of new technologies in Plasma still allows it to get a lead over its competing technologies.
