I’ve never had it done, but I used to work there. Ink refill isn’t a real smart choice for making your printer last (the cartridges weren’t made to be refilled without being refurbished by the manufacturer), and the quality is never as good as the name brand ink, but it is considerably cheaper. For printing stuff off the internet it’s fine, but if you print photos definitely don’t use the stuff. For photos it generally fades quicker.

Some generic inks can damage the print heads, causing your printer life to be diminished, but printers are so cheap nowadays you can get one printer for general printing, and if you print photos to save, you can get a better printer that you only use for that (or take it and get professionally printed, like those digital prints at Walgreens/Walmart).

Consumer Reports featured this in a issue about a year or so ago. If you go online you should be able to search for the article or find out what issue it’s in and go to the library and check it out.
