When we went to buy a new dishwasher I was overwhelmed by the choices. Not just the selection of manufacturers like GE, Amana, Kenmore, KitchenAid, etc., but by the choices offered by each manufacturer.  Unfortunately we didn't feel that the salesman was exceptionally knowledgeable about the dishwashers. He seemed a bit more intent on selling the highest priced one.  We decided to do a bit of investigation on our own. We came home and check out dishwasher appliance reviews.  There were some features that we definitely wanted, but a lot that we didn't feel we'd use.  Doing the work at home was the best thing we could have done.  The next time we went to the home store we told the salesman exactly what we wanted, and we got the perfect dishwasher for us.
