When we built our new home we had to have all new appliances.   The home builder informed us that if we purchased all energy efficient appliances that we could get a rebate from the local electrical company.  It was not any problem to find appliances that we liked that were energy efficient as almost every manufacturer advertised them at the top of their list.  It only made good sense to buy them with or without the rebate.   I am not gong to save over a hundred dollars a year in energy costs because of my appliance choices.  It only makes good sense to be energy efficient.
